10-DAY MISSION TRIP TO KENYA

My Joy is still overflowing from a recent (2/15-2/26) trip to Kenya.  Nine others missioners and I spent 10 days serving the Life for Children Ministry.  Michael Ouma Agwanda , LCM Visionary and Director planned a very advancing itinerary.  I am pleased to announce that we successfully executed on all of the activities.

  • We distributed 500 lbs. of donations that were brought with us from the USA.

  • We attended a Holy Spirit filled Sunday worship (without walls).

  • Completed guardian home and microfinance business visits in the Nyalenda slums.

  • We ministered and provided food to approximately 70+ homeless street boys.

  • We fellowshipped with 400 orphan students and guardians.  It was a wonderful experience to witness the joy and smiles as they ate nutritious meals.

  • Video interviews and photo sessions were completed with the orphans and guardians.

  • We sponsored 2 home builds, as well as participated in the build for Ms. Theresa and her son’s home.

  • Our successful animal fundraiser allowed for 44 lambs and 94 chickens to be distributed to community groups and guardians.

  • We were also blessed to dedicate 2 new greenhouses (that after 3 weeks are already flourishing), a much-needed middle school classroom, and medical and administrative offices.

  • A formal awards ceremony was held to recognize and celebrate the achievement of the LCM’s St Antony Wachara Christian school which was recognized as the top performing school in their county.

I was blessed to leave the team for a few hours to visit with another family in ministry.  The Jewels of Obaga, who are a coalition of 600 widow farmers who do a fantastic job in the areas of economics and food production.  I witnessed how the 3 greenhouses that Jimmy Mac Foundation sponsored for the Jewels and Life For Children Ministry are bearing much fruit.  The recognition JMF received from Life for Children and the Jewels of Obaga for our greenhouse sponsorships was quite humbling.  We are committed to do more in the coming year.  The last 1.5 days were spent at the world renowned Masai Mara safari.  To GOD be the glory!
