JMF 2nd Qtr 2023 Update & Praise Report

Greetings current and prospective partners of the Jimmy Mac Foundation (JMF). This year is flying by and as we’ve come out of the 2nd quarter, we remain grounded in Joshua 1:9 which says, “Have I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your GOD will be with you, wherever you go.” Though the times we are living in continue to be challenging, my prayer is that your ongoing support will embolden our spirit of servanthood and my praise is for the growing expanse of our reach as we serve locally, nationally, and globally.

2022 JMF Scholarship Recipients - ICYMI

In case you missed it (ICYMI), we recently introduced our 2023 “Making A Difference” scholarship recipients. Thanks to the generosity of our financial partners, we raised and distributed $25K amongst 14 deserving students: (Top L to R) Sierra Reid, Destina Francis, Sherman Darby, Jerry Freeman, Jackson Bell, Kennedy Johnson, Seth Thomas, Christopher Zaire Creighton-Mitchell, Gregory Tyriq Snead, Luke Williams, Kylie Mudie, Eythan Hyllested, Nylan Curtis, Kaylee McCallum.

We are grateful and thankful for the awesome 2023 JMF Scholarship committee. Under the leadership of Committee Chair Kevin Dunlap, along with Lawrence Bynum, Kathleen Mitchell, Cassondra Roberts and Mary McKinney Womack, they were thrilled with this year’s recipients and shared these sentiments: “Academically, the 2023 class was very strong. It was a joy reading their essays and speaking with each of them. They are a community service-minded group of achievers with high aspirations who will continue to make a difference in this world.”

Additional Scholarship & Educational Assistance Support

Along with the “Making A Difference” scholarship initiative, this year we have donated approximately $7.5K to support other scholarship/educational programs all across the country.

Nutrition & Food Sustainability

One of the Jimmy Mac Foundation’s key areas of focus is nutrition and food sustainability all over the world, and we are excited that our greenhouse investments in Kenya are making a difference. With your continued partnership, we pray that we will be able to sponsor additional greenhouse builds during the second half of this year. Locally, we continue to support MUST Ministry, Atlanta Community Food Bank and Special Olympics of GA nutrition initiatives with plans to increase our food bank volunteerism during the remainder of 2023.

Local/International Housing & Orphan Support

We are pleased to announce our co-sponsorship of a minimum of four (4) Habitat for Humanity North Central Georgia homes this year and the support of their student engagement activities. We are also very excited about Habitat’s recent groundbreaking of 14 new homes and prayerfully, we will be a co-sponsor of these homes as well. Our volunteer teams that help with these builds are a Godsend and we couldn’t do it without each and everyone of you! Habitat for Humanity continues to be a blessing to so many and it’s an honor to partner with them. For more information about Habitat volunteer opportunities, please email jimmymacfoundation5928@gmail.com.

Across the globe in Kenya, we completed sponsorship of 2 home builds and are committed to doing at least 2 more by year-end. The home build program that is a part of Life for Children’s ministry continues to bring hope, joy and abundant blessings to many Kenyan families, and our financial support of 6 Kenyan orphans is ongoing. I was overjoyed to meet three of them during my visit to Kenya earlier this year. If you are interested in learning more about Kenyan home build or orphan sponsorships, please send your inquiries to jimmymacfoundation5928@gmail.com.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE JIMMY MAC FOUNDATION

Partnership Opportunities

In April we were presented with an opportunity to partner with Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia as they support the education system in St. Joseph Parish, Medor, Haiti. JMF is excited about this prospect and committed to being an ongoing partner with the ministry’s work.

Additionally, as a product of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford, CT, one of our partnership expansions this year is to be an annual supporter of the Joseph D. Lapenta Northwest Boys and Girls Club, an organization making a difference in the greater Hartford community. Growing up, this club was a second home to me and in 2024 we hope to expand our scholarship efforts so that we can be a blessing to the young, bright minds they serve.

Grant Opportunities

We have received volunteer resources to assist us in aggressively seeking and securing grant opportunities. We will keep you updated and will share more about this later in the year. If you are aware of grant opportunities or have the heart and expertise to assist us in this space, please send an inquiry to jimmymacfoundation5928@gmail.com.

As we moved through the 2nd quarter walking in our 2023 theme, “The Courage to Do More”, God pushed us out into deeper waters. We set our goals high and continue to operate in confidence knowing that with GOD and your partnership, we will achieve and succeed in all our endeavors. None of this would be possible without you, our partners and we say a resounding “Thank You, and To GOD be the glory!”

Peace & Blessings,

Jimmy
